A sex worker is becoming increasingly vulnerable to more and more violence-related incidents, and it all comes down to one state. This is the state of Nevada, where Carson City has the highest incidence of violence against the sex industry. Also, there are reported cases of rape in Carsons City, and other assaults. Hence they have a bad reputation for this city’s workers in the field of sex.

In Nevada for example, there are legal means through which men and women who engage in these activities can be discriminated against under cover of protecting the sex industry against any form of violence. For example there are laws in Carson City that prohibit “barbaric acts” or any “abusive and obscene sexual acts” including forced fellatio. In fact it is illegal to even talk about extra-marital affairs in Nevada as well as under-age sex with children.

These anti-discrimination laws in Nevada do not just focus on those involved in this trade but they also embrace landlords as well as business owners among others. This is unfair to both Nevada State Government and people working within the industry itself. It’s also unfair to working women in Nevada who find themselves being abused at home by people who think providing them with a place for sex is doing them a favor.

Unfortunately, this was not the first time that these laws were applied towards prostitution sector actors within Nevada State jurisdiction. It emerged last year that many prostitutes arrested in Carson City were charged with crimes that did not exist under its law books. Carson City’s sex industry cannot afford not to oppose this law as it may ruin its reputation in the state. Some people believe that in Carson City, this legislation is used for intimidating and bullying persons into paying up fees owed by them. However, although the intention of the law was good when passed by the state legislature, there is also a growing feeling that it is being misused by some groups and in future it will cost more money for those working within this trade.

Presently, there is an ongoing bill by the state assembly which is intended at making it easier for prostitutes to sue any client who uses violence against them so as to pay what they owe. Once passed into law, many customers are likely to flee from Nevada forever. Therefore, enforcement costs of these laws will increase and many prostitutes will fail to remain in business because they would not have enough resources to cater for their stay here anymore.

However, this is not just about Carson City; it is also about other Nevada towns that are haunted by poverty wages and labour unions. However, the state assembly of Nevada seems to be making the same mistakes that Carson City did in its efforts to protect the rights of sex industry in Carson City. To make a real difference, state assembly must think through and realize another approach to this issue.

The labour unions in the city have been trying to hold back sex clubs through lobbying for their closure. The trade unions argue that these clubs are making them lose income and they can’t stand such poor pay for their members. They have been pushing for higher fees to be charged by the state from these clubs hence forcing them to shut down.

While many club owners have tried suing labor unions, this has backfired on them as they now being counter sued. For example, the unions are demanding that club owners foot legal bills for workers such as attorneys’ fees or legal representation costs.

This will create a lot of problems for the sex industry in Nevada due to huge sums of money which will have to be spent on self-defense and damage control over sex industry reputation within Carson City. If changing anything else about it, then let Nevada State Assembly keep on legislating like this before watching as everything turns against local sexual industry at no time. As a result, they stand a chance of losing millions because the state has no other option but spend several million dollars defending itself.
